After writing about that little adventure with Libby (my prior blog post) I suddenly remembered something that I hadn't thought of in 45 years. And it explains an awful lot. (I can't believe I never put the pieces together.)
There was a big field by Libby's house (part of the property) that served as a neighborhood gathering point. And one day when Libby was 10 or 11 a bunch of us were over there playing. At some point one of Libby's older brothers started teasing her so she attacked him.
He had no trouble subduing her, but every time he let her go she attacked him again. Finally he got her in a submission hold - her right arm was behind her and he was twisting it mercilessly - he just wanted her to say "I give up!".
It seemed to go on forever - he kept incrementally increasing the stress on her arm - I was afraid something was going to break. Libby was screaming in pain (and frustration), and tears were streaming down her face.
But she refused to submit.
I no longer remember who gave in first. But her interactions with her brothers totally explain the maniacal laughter as she pinned guys to the ground and made them beg for mercy :-)
Two final thoughts:
I hope she hasn't devoted her life to mercilessly humiliating unsuspecting males. :-)
And I hope nothing ever broke her spirit...

Hmm. Not sure your two thoughts can EVER be reconciled...
Good one! I hadn't really considered the mutual exclusivity of the two sentiments :-)
